Student of Dhaka College and Dhaka City College, popularly known as City College, on Wednesday locked in a violent clash in the Science Laboratory area in the city over the allegations from both sides of beating of their fellows, halting traffic movement for more than three hours in the busy neighbourhoods.

Students of the colleges claimed that around 45 students were injured in the clash.


A large number of police and army personnel were deployed as the students continued attacking each other, blocking roads from 1:30pm to 6:00pm.

Law enforcers lobbed sound grenades and tear gas shells and also charged batons at about 4:30pm to disperse the clashing students.聽聽聽聽

The clash erupted at about 1:30pm with the students chasing and counter chasing that halted the traffic on both sides of the road connecting New Market and Mirpur around Dhanmondi and Science Laboratory areas.聽

The students of both colleges were seen carrying sticks, iron rods and throwing brick chips at each other鈥檚 side.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ramna zone deputy commissioner Masud Alam told 抖阴精品 that the law enforcers tried to control the situation.

He said that the clash erupted after Dhaka College students had beaten a Dhaka City College student and Dhaka City College students vandalised buses of Dhaka College.

Dhaka College student Tanvir Hasan alleged that Dhaka City College students beat a student and vandalised three buses of their college.

Dhaka City College student Md Yasir, however, claimed that Dhaka College students beat a student of Dhaka City College first.

Many of the students took part in the clash apparently without knowing what exactly happened.

Yasir said that around 20 students of Dhaka City College were injured being hit by brick chips pelted at them by the Dhaka College students.

They were rushed to Popular Medical College Hospital and Dhaka Medical College Hospital for primary treatment, said Yasir.

Ehsanul Huq Shahin, a student of Dhaka College, said that around 25 of their fellows were injured in the clash and baton charge by the law-enforcers.

Dhaka Medical College Hospital employees said that 36 injured in the clash took primary treatment.

Science Laboratory army camp commander Major Syed Resvan Rahman told the media at about 6:30pm that the situation was under control and they would talk with the principals to prevent further clashes.

Dhaka College students alleged that law enforcers attacked them inside the campus.

Law enforcers, however, denied the claim.聽聽聽聽聽

The students of the two colleges repeatedly locked in clashes in the past and in recent times also over trifling matters.
