A microbus driver was hacked to death allegedly by rivals over a piece of land at Naogaon sadar upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased is Nazrul Islam, 41, son of Jasim Uddin of Dakshin Sultanpur village.
According to the police and family members, Nazrul had a long-standing dispute with his neighbour Mannan over the boundary of a piece of land near his house.
On Wednesday, the two families locked into an altercation over cutting down some mango trees planted by Nazrul.
At one point, Mannan hacked Nazrul with a locally made sharp weapon and ran away, leaving him critically injured, they said.
Family members rushed Nazrul to a local hospital but Nazrul died on the way, said Nure Alam Siddique, officer-in-charge of Naogaon Sadar police station.
He said that the process of filing a case with the police over the murder was under way.
