
At least eight people were killed in separate road accidents in Dhaka, Pabna and Noakhali from Wednesday night to Thursday.
Four garment workers died and 30 others were injured when a bus collided head on with a brick-laden truck in Dhamrai area on Wednesday night, reported BSS.
The deceased were Jahangir, 30, Nipa, 25, Khadiza, 28 and Jesmin, 26, all were workers of Graphics Garments.
Dhamrai police station officer-in-charge said that the accident occurred at Sutipara on Batulia regional highway at about 10:00pm.
The injured workers were admitted to different hospitals.
Police seized the vehicles although the staff managed to flee.
Two people were killed and two others injured in a collision between an easy bike and a motorcycle in Bera upazila in Pabna on Wednesday night, reported BSS.
The deceased were motorcyclist Parash, 15, hailed from Nayabari village and easy bike driver Pushpa, 35, an inhabitant of Sinduria village.
Aminpur police station officer-in-charge Syed Mohammad Alamgir Hossain said that the accident occurred at around 8:00pm.
Parash and Pushpa died on the way to a hospital, said the OC.
A youth died and two of his friends were injured in a road accident near Teacher-Student Centre on the Dhaka University campus early Thursday, reported United News of Bangladesh
The deceased was Sajeeb, 24, an employee at a sports shop in Dhaka鈥檚 Gulistan.
The injured were Ishan, 22, and Mojahid, 23, according to Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost in-charge Md Faruk.
Sajeeb鈥檚 friend Md Sohel said the trio on two motorbikes were going to attend the wedding ceremony of Sajeeb鈥檚 sister in the city鈥檚 Bakshi Bazar area on Wednesday night.
After the wedding, they went for a leisure ride. Sajeeb was riding one bike with Ishan as his pillion passenger, while Mojahid was on the second bike.
At the TSC area, Sajeeb鈥檚 bike collided with Mojahid鈥檚, leaving all three critically injured.
They were rushed to DMCH, where doctors pronounced Sajeeb dead upon arrival at around 2:00am, said Faruk.
Sajeeb鈥檚 body was handed over without an autopsy following a family appeal.
A minor girl was killed after being hit by a sand-laden truck in Musapur union under Companiganj upazila in Noakhali on Thursday, reported Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.
The deceased was Saifa Akhter, 3, daughter of Nur Amin, a resident of the union.
The accident occurred in the area when a sand-laden truck hit her from behind while she was standing on the road in front of her house around 4:00pm, leaving her seriously injured, said Companiganj police station officer-in-charge Gazi Muhammad Foujul Azim.
Later, she was taken to Companiganj Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.
Police arrested the truck driver and his assistant, the OC said, adding that legal action was under process.
