
Bangladesh interim government on Wednesday approved a proposal for procurement of some 5,20,54,276 textbooks to be distributed free of cost among class-VIII students for the academic year 2025.
Some 76 institutions in 102 lots would supply the textbooks for the students of class-VIII of both Bangla and English versions, including general, Dakhil and technical students with a cost of around Taka 269.69 crore.
Following a proposal from the Secondary and Higher Education Division, the approval came from the 14th meeting of the advisers council committee on government purchase held on Wednesday at the Cabinet Division conference room at Bangladesh Secretariat in Dhaka with finance adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, finance adviser Salehuddin Ahmed said that the day鈥檚 meeting approved this proposal so that the students get the textbooks as early as possible.
