
An ‘Indigenous Food and Grain Fair’ is going to be held from December 20, featuring authentic food of the national minorities of the Chittagong Hill Tracts and the plains, in Dhaka.Â
The two-day fair will be held on the premises of Banaful Tribal Greenheart School and College in Mirpur, said a press release on Wednesday.
One of the organisers, Rally Chakma, said that there had been a huge response on stall allocation of the fair as many entrepreneurs from national minority communities, including Chakma, Mandi, Manipuri and Rakhine, had already booked stalls.
The fair will be organised jointly by non-profit organisation Nagarik Udyog and Maha Pragya Education Trust, which works for underprivileged national minority students.
Nagarik Udyog chief executive Zakir Hossain said that the fair was organised to introduce the urban population of the country to the diverse rich crops of Jum agriculture.
Popular national minority women’s band F Minor will perform in the cultural programme of the fair, which will start at 10:00am and continue till 9:00pm.
