Environment adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan at a meeting on Thursday announced that the government was making every effort to control air pollution.

As part of this initiative, a taskforce will be formed very soon which will work until the next monsoon, she said.

At an inter-ministerial meeting held on the day in the Local Government Division鈥檚 conference room at the secretariat, she also said that the government would announce new areas free from brickfields, said a press release.

Syeda Rizwana Hasan stated that sources of air pollution were being identified, and measures were being implemented.

Strict steps are being taken to control dust from construction work, emissions from brick kilns, and vehicle exhaust, she added.

She emphasised the importance of raising public awareness, enforcing laws, and enhancing monitoring systems to address the issue effectively.

Recognising that air pollution cannot be resolved overnight, she also said that old vehicles would be removed within the next six months, and the police would be instructed to restrict open trucks from entering the capital.
