Mysterious death of a young couple in Sylhet on Wednesday morning triggered a conflict among their relatives as the man’s family claimed the deaths as natural, while the woman’s relatives claimed that they were deliberately murdered.Â
The deceased were identified as Rubel Ahmed, 30, and his wife Rajna Begum, 26, who had been living with two children in a rented house at Chalibandar area in Sylhet city. Rubel’s father is Abdul Majid of Tahirpur upazila in Sunamganj, the police said. Â
Rubel’s mother told reporters that Rajna had been suffering from fever for past several days and Rubel started to take her to Sylhet Osmani Medical College and Hospital by an auto-rickshaw at about 10:00am as her condition deteriorated.
‘Rajna fainted while being transported to hospital when she started foaming at the mouth. At that point, Rubel also fell sick after seeing Rajna’s condition. On-duty physicians at the hospital declared both of them dead on arrival,’ Rubel’s mother claimed.
Rajna’s father Abdul Ali, a resident of Donaram village at Fenchuganj upazila in Sylhet, alleged that his daughter and her husband were murdered in a planned way following family feuds.
‘My daughter was quite well and I had talked to her over phone only three days back,’ he claimed.
Osmani Medical College and Hospital director brigadier general Umar Rashed Munir told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that both the husband and wife were brought to the hospital dead.
‘Their death is suspicious. So their bodies were sent to the morgue for post-mortem examinations,’ he said in the afternoon.
