Gono Odhikar Parishad faction on Wednesday demanded formation of a national enquiry commission for fresh investigation into then Bangladesh Rifles killings that took place at the then BDR headquarters in Dhaka on February 25, 2009.

A five-member central team of the party led by member secretary Faroque Hassan met home adviser Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury at his Bangladesh Secretariat office and handed over a memorandum with their demands to him, a press release of the party said.

Their three demands are formation of a national enquiry commission for reinvestigation of the killings, changing the name of Boarder Guard Bangladesh and keeping earlier name Bangladesh Rifles and giving release of all BDR members staying in the prison.

The other members of the team are Tareque Rahma, Arif Billah, Tasnuva Maha and Abdul Hannan.

A huge number of army officers were killed in the confrontation planned by Indian government, the press release said quoting the memorandum.
