The police and Rapid Action Battalion members cordoned off the Jinira branch of Rupali Bank in Keraniganj after a group of people suspected to be robbers stormed into the bank on Thursday afternoon.
Confirming the matter, South Keraniganj police station officer-in-charge Majharul Islam said robbers entered the bank at about 2:00pm.
鈥榃e were informed that the robbers are armed. Law enforcement personnel are working to control the situation and ensure the surrender of the robbers,鈥� he said, adding that they could not conduct a rescue operation as of 4:50pm.
However, officials could not identify the number of robbers involved in the incident.
