
The government on Sunday declared a one-day state mourning on Monday at the death of civil aviation and tourism and land adviser AF Hassan Ariff, who died of cardiac arrest on Friday.
On the day of mourning, the national flag would be hoisted at half-mast at all government, semi-government, and autonomous institutions, educational institutions, all government and private buildings, and Bangladesh missions abroad, a cabinet division notification said.
Special prayers will be arranged at all mosques and other places of worship, seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of the adviser.
Meanwhile, the council of advisers on the same day adopted a condolence motion on the death of Hassan Ariff at a special meeting at the chief adviser鈥檚 office in Dhaka.
Environment, forest and climate change adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan placed the condolence motion at the meeting, which was adopted unanimously.
At the onset of the meeting, a minute-silence was observed in respect to the memory of Adviser Hassan Ariff.
Chief adviser professor Muhammad Yunus and other advisers paid tribute to the late adviser.
