
Four more deaths were reported from dengue in 24 hours till Thursday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 569 this year.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services, among the recent fatalities, one death each occurred in the Dhaka South City Corporation, Barishal, Chattogram and Khulna divisions (outside the city corporations).
During the period, 153 additional patients were hospitalised with viral fever. Of them, 20 were admitted in hospital under the Dhaka North City Corporation while 21 were hospitalised in the DSCC.
Currently, 804 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.
This year, 1,00,711 dengue cases have been reported so far. Last year, 1,705 people lost their lives due to dengue, making it the deadliest year on record. The DGHS recorded 3,21,179 dengue cases and 3,18,749 recoveries in 2023.
