The International Crimes Tribunal on Thursday showed police constable Md Mukul Chokder arrested in a case lodged over gunning down six students in Ashulia, Savar, and torching their bodies during the student-led July-August mass uprising.

The three-member tribunal, led by justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder, passed the order as police produced the constable before the court and the prosecution pleaded to show him arrested in the case.

The ICT on December 24 issued arrest warrant against former Dhaka-19 lawmaker Md Saiful Islam and four police members in the case. The court also had set January 26 for submitting progress report on the investigation of the case.

‘They not only gunned down the innocents, but also kept their bodies in a police van and torched the vehicle to make it look like the mob has done this. That is how they carried out the barbaric crimes to avoid their responsibility,’ ICT chief prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam said on that day.
