
A delegation of Korean experts recently visited the Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development to engage in discussions about a new project funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency.
The collaborative initiative aims to foster sustainable development in rural areas and strengthen the ties between BARD and KOICA, said a press release.
The visiting Korean experts team, led by professor Donghwan An, and KOICA team, led by Junsu Kim, deputy country director, KOICA Bangladesh office, were welcomed by senior faculty members
at BARD.
The discussions revolved around the project’s objectives, implementation strategies, and expected outcomes, ensuring alignment with the development priorities of Bangladesh.
The KOICA-funded proposed project ‘Strengthening the capacity to carry out sustainable rural development’ is designed to enhance capacity-building, introduce innovative practices, and promote inclusive growth in rural communities.
The project is blended of Saemaul Undong plus and Comilla model of rural development. It will focus on areas such as agriculture, education, technology transfer, and women’s empowerment, aiming to create a long-lasting impact on the socio-economic fabric of the region.
