Border Guard Bangladesh’s 55 Battalion in Habiganj distributed blankets among the cold-hit people at Srimangal in Moulvibazar on Wednesday.

Two hundred pieces of blankets were distributed among the helpless, distressed and elderly people on the premises of Kakmarachhara Primary School in the upazila, said a press release.


The BGB 55 Battalion commandant Lieutenant Colonel Tanzil attended the event as chief guest.

Addressing the programme, he said, ‘The BGB not only works to protect the security of the country’s border, but also stands beside the people to reduce their suffering.’

The cold-stricken people expressed their satisfaction after receiving the blankets.

The villagers and local public representatives of Kakmarachhara area also congratulated the BGB for its commendable initiative for the cold-hit people, the press release said. The border guard officials in the programme also said that their efforts in serving the destitute people of the society would be continued in future.
