The Students Against Discrimination and Jatiya Nagorik Committee on Wednesday continued leaflet distribution and rallies in Dhaka city and elsewhere as part of their weeklong nationwide campaign demanding the July uprising proclamation by January 15.

In Dhaka city, the platforms’ leaders and members distributed leaflets in Mohammadpur, Jatrabari and Mirpur 10 areas on the day, said Students Against Discrimination office secretary Zahid Ahsan.

Besides, they also distributed leaflets in Narayanganj, Mymensingh, Khulna, Cumilla, Narsingdi, Barishal, Chattogram, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Sylhet and Chapainawabganj cities, added Zahid.

In the leaflets distributed on Wednesday, the platforms raised a seven-point demand including official recognition of the uprising martyrs in the proclamation and providing treatment to those injured in the uprising, recognition of the leadership of the Students Against Discrimination in the uprising and commitment to holding the trial of those responsible for the killings in the uprising.

They also demanded abolition of the existing constitution and the formulation of a new one, inclusion of a new political settlement in the proclamation and assurance for reforms to abolish the fascist system.

The two organisations on Monday jointly began the ‘Proclamation Week’ from January 6-11, urging the interim government to announce the July uprising proclamation by January 15 as per its commitment.
