
One person was arrested on Thursday on the charge of fraud for selling fake question papers of the medical admission test for the 2024-2025 academic year scheduled to be held today.
The arrested is Nazmul Ahsan Naim, a first-year honours student at Ananda Mohan College in Mymensingh.
A team of the detective branch鈥檚 cyber and special crime division (North) arrested Nazmul at about 12:00pm in Mymensingh sadar area, said a press release sent by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
According to the DB, a campaign was being conducted claiming to provide medical entrance exam question papers in exchange for money by posting part of medical entrance exam questions from an ID on social media platform Facebook.
The Facebook post claimed that they had the questions of admission test and requested those who wished to collect those questions in exchange for money were to contact them in inbox as soon as possible, the DMP press release read.
The post also mentioned that Tk 12,000 should be paid as the question price. Out of which Tk 6,000 should be paid in advance and the remaining amount should be paid after the examination.
A WhatsApp number was also provided with the post for contact purposes.
With the help of information technology, the DB Cyber team quickly ascertained the identity and location of the fraudster involved in the incident and later arrested him.
