A coordinator of the Student Movement Against Discrimination was beaten in his room at a rented hostel in Rajshahi city on Tuesday night.
The injured leader, Nurul Islam Shahid, took primary treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital following the incident.
Shahid, a 2020-21 session student of Rajshahi University鈥檚 crop science and technology department, told 抖阴精品 that about 20 people came to his hostel in the Sasthitala area in the city in search of a youth named Shamim.
鈥業 ask the youths to come to my room to know why they are looking for Shamim,鈥� he said, adding that the youths entered his room and started beating Shamim and the mess coordinator Shahid with iron rods and steel pipes randomly.
Mehedi Masud, officer-in-charge of Boalia Model Police Station, said that there had been a dispute between two local youths 鈥� Hridoy and Mostak Milton 鈥� over a love affair issue.
The police officer said that on information when Milton鈥檚 brother-in-law Shamim went to spot, Hridoy鈥檚 followers chased him, who hid in the hostel where coordinator Shahid resided.
鈥楽hamim鈥檚 followers also rushed to the area to save him. When they found Shamim in Shahid鈥檚 room, they started beating the coordinator, thinking that it was he who confined Shamim,鈥� he added.
