
A week-long Madhu Fair marking the 201st birth anniversary of great poet Michael Madhusudan Dutt will begin at Sagardari village in Jashore today.
Organised by the Jashore district administration, the cultural affairs adviser to the interim government, Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, is expected to inaugurate the fair as chief guest. 聽
Born at Sagardari under Keshabpur in Jashore on January 25, 1824, to Rajnarayan Dutt and Janhabi Devi, Madhusudan Dutt is the poet of the epic poem Meghnadbadh Kabya.
His literary works include The Captive Ladie, Brajangana Kabya, Birangana Kabya, Buro Shaliker Ghare Roan, Padmabati and Maya Kanan.
Madhusudan Dutt passed away at Kolkata General Hospital on June 29, 1873. He was buried at Park Street, Kolkata, India.
The fair will conclude on January 30.
