
The police on Saturday detained three suspects over the murder of Khulna University student by miscreants at Tetultala in Khulna city on Friday night.
The victim, Arnab Kumar Sarkar, 22, was a master’s of business administration student of the university and son of Nitish Kumar Sarkar of Basupara area in the city, according to police and witnesses.
Sonadanga police station officer-in-charge Shafiqul Islam said that a group of 10-15 armed people with motorbikes attacked Arnab at about 9:00pm at Tetultala crossing when he was taking tea.
‘The miscreants stabbed and shot him, leaving him injured,’ the OC said, adding that people of the area recovered him and taken to Khulna City Medical College and Hospital where the duty doctors declared him dead.
He said that the body was handed over to the family after autopsy.
The OC also said that they had detained two KU current students and one former student for interrogation.
