The Gono Bishwabidyalay held an orientation programme for the students of the January-2025 session on its campus in Savar, Dhaka on Monday.

The students paid homage to the martyrs of the Language Movement, the Liberation War, and all the struggles for establishing democratic and social justice at the foot of the National Memorial in Savar.


Vice-chancellor of the university, Professor Md Abul Hossain, recited seven oaths guiding the new students in building the country and nation at the memorial. 

Treasurer of the university Professor Sirajul Islam, president of the deans’ committee Professor Md Zahirul Islam Khan, acting registrar, and deans of various faculties, heads of departments, teachers and officials were present at the programme.

A documentary about the visionary of the university, Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, was screened at the beginning of the programme at the auditorium of the university.

Although Gono Bishwabidyalay is a private university, many of the qualities of a public university are present here, said the VC, mentioning that sports were given importance along with education in the university.

A cultural program was presented with the participation of the students of the university.
