
Hundreds of tourists have flocked to the Kuakata beach in Patuakhali for spending quality time on the weekend.
The Kuakata Hotel-Motel Owners’ Association said that after a hiatus of six months, about 80 per cent of hotels had been booked in the area.
Abdul Motaleb Sharif, president of the association, said on Friday that many tourists at a time came to visit the beach after the fall of Sheikh Hasina on August 5.Â
Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation have also organised a month-long tourism fair at Kuakata, which commenced on February 1.
The fair is also attracting the tourists for featuring different cultural activities and exhibitions of local products.
Hasib Mahmud, a tourist from Dhaka, mentioned that the natural beauty and the peaceful environment of the beach gave him a feeling of happiness.
All tourism-related businesses need to further improve the quality of services, said Sohel Zaman, a tourist from Faridpur.
He also added, ‘It is crucial to make the tourism exclusive in the area.’
Tourist police are engaged in their service round the clock.
Kuakata tourist police inspector Habibur Rahman said, ‘We are ready to provide services and legal assistance to all tourists visiting Kuakata. Our team is working in the field.’
Mahipur police station officer-in-charge Tariqul Islam said that they had also strengthened the security for tourists along with the Kuakata tourist police.
