The name of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University has been officially changed to Gazipur Agricultural University.
The announcement was made through a gazette notification by the ministry of law, justice and parliamentary affairs on Wednesday, said a press release on Thursday.
After changing the name, vice-chancellor of the university Professor GKM Mustafizur Rahman reaffirmed his commitment to transforming Gazipur Agricultural University into a leading global institution of excellence.
Earlier, the university achieved the top position among all public and private universities in Bangladesh in the 2025 Times Higher Education ranking and secured a prestigious standing in various international rankings.
VC Mustafizur Rahman expressed optimism that Gazipur Agricultural University would continue to maintain its remarkable standing in education and research across international rankings in the future.
