Vice-chancellor of the Independent University, Bangladesh Professor M Tamim at an event on the IUB campus in Dhaka has emphasised the importance of nurturing students’ interest and skills in physics.

He said this at the prize distribution ceremony of the Physics Olympiad 2025 for Dhaka north regional round, which was organised by the IUB’s department of physical sciences, said a press release on Sunday.


Dhaka University physics department’s professors Naureen Ahsan and Khandker Saadat Hossain, dean of the IUB’s school of engineering, technology and sciences, Habib Bin Muzaffar, and Farhad Alam, head of the department of physical sciences, among others, attended the event.

More than 1,000 students from over 300 schools and colleges participated in the competition.

Around 350 participants across four categories were selected to advance to the national-level competition, added the press release.
