Md Sirajul Islam, the proprietor of Messrs Momina Logistic Point and Messrs Momina Dairy Industries, a loan defaulter as per a case filed by One Bank PLC, has been arrested.
Police arrested Sirajul at about 11:30pm on Sunday and handed him over to the Artha Rin Adalot, which subsequently sent him to jail.
Kalabagan police station officer-in-charge Mokteruzzaman said that Sirajul was arrested as there was a warrant for his arrest.
According to the case document, Sirajul took a loan from One Bank PLC鈥檚 Tipu Sultan Road Branch in Dhaka to expand his business, but as he failed to repay it on time, it turned into a defaulted loan.
To recover the outstanding amount, the bank filed a financial loan case with Artha Rin Adalat-3, and following trial, the court issued a verdict and decree in the case.
Based on the verdict and decree, One Bank filed another case with court, claiming an outstanding amount of Tk聽10,48,09,755 and requesting the court to issue an arrest warrant against the borrower, which the court granted.
