A case was filed against 400 to 500 unnamed people with the Khan Jahan Ali police station on Wednesday night over the Tuesday’s clash amongst members of Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s student wing Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and Students Against Discrimination on Khulna University of Engineering and Technology campus and in adjacent areas.

KUET security inspector Md Moniruzzaman Liton filed the case at about 10:30pm on Wednesday, the police station officer-in-charge Kabir Hossain said.

‘We have recorded the case. We are investigating into the case. None has been arrested so far,’ the OC told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· on early Thursday.

He said that the university authorities claimed that at least 50 students were injured in the clash.

Asked why none was named in the case, OC Kabir said that the university authorities did not put any name in the case statements.

Hours before filing the case, the KUET authorities upheld its previous decision to ban student politics on the campus amid a tense situation over the clash.

The decision was made at the 98th syndicate meeting amid protests by the students on the campus with six-point demands, including the ban on politics and the resignation of vice-chancellor and giving treatment costs of all students wounded in the clash that had left over 100 injured.

The authorities also decided to expel students for lifetime and cancel their studentship for engaging in politics and no employees, officials and teachers will be allowed to participate in politics, KUET pro-vice chancellor professor Sk Shariful Alam told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· on Wednesday.

The JCD and the Students Against Discrimination which led the July mass uprising forcing the fall of Sheikh Hasina regime, traded blames over the clash.
