International Crimes Tribunal鈥檚 chief prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam on Thursday told the International Crimes Tribunal that the investigators had found primary evidence of enforced disappearances and torture against two detained former Rapid Action Battalion officials.

He told the tribunal that the primary evidence showed that ex-RAB officials 鈥 Mohiuddin Faruki and Alep Uddin 鈥 were involved in incidents of enforced disappearance between 2017 and 2019 when the Awami League was in power.

Tajul alleged that Alep, the then commander of RAB鈥檚 Narayanganj unit, repeatedly raped the wife of an enforced disappearance victim during Ramadan by threatening her that her husband would be killed if she did not fulfill Alep鈥檚 desire.

Despite her ordeal, her husband was later re-arrested in front of the jail shortly after being freed on bail, he added.

鈥楩aruki and Alep were among the notorious RAB officers responsible for enforced disappearances and brutal torture of countless people,鈥 Tajul told the tribunal.

The tribunal set May 28 for submitting investigation report against Faruki and Alep.

Alep was arrested at Barishal and Faruki at Kaukhali (Betbunia) in Rangamati on November 13, 2024 when they were serving as additional superintendents of police in Barishal and Rangamati respectively.

On Thursday, 10 other former law enforcement officials鈥攊ncluding former Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun and former National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre director general Major General (retired) Ziaul Ahsan鈥攚ere produced before the tribunal in a separate case of genocide and crimes against humanity during the July-August uprising.

The three-judge tribunal, led by Chairman Golam Mortuza Mozumder, set April 28 as the deadline for submitting the investigation report against the former IGP and nine others.

Besides Mamun and Ziaul, eight other former members of the law enforcement agencies who were produced before the tribunal are former superintendent of Dhaka Police Md Abdullahhil Kafi, former OC of Jatrabari Police Station Abul Hasan, former DC of DMP Mirpur Zone Md Jasim Uddin Molla, former additional superintendent of Dhaka (Savar Circle) Md Shahidur Islam, former inspector of DB Dhaka North Md Arafat Hossain and former OC of DMP Gulshan Police Station Md Mazharul Haque.
