Leaders of the Ganatantra Mancha, a combine of six political parties, on Sunday condemned attacks on leaders of Nagarik Oikya, a partner of the combine, at Shibganj Shaheed Minar in Bogura during placing wreaths on Bhasha Shaheed Dibas.
The central steering committee in a press statement alleged that a group led by local Bangladesh Nationalist Party general secretary was responsible for the attack in which convener of Shibganj unit Nagarik Oikya Shahidul Islam and joint convener Enamul Haque were seriously wounded.
The steering committee demanded immediate arrests of the attackers and their exemplary punishment.
Signatories to the statement are coordinator of Ganatantra Mancha and also general secretary of Revolutionary Workers Party Saiful Huq, president of Nagarik Oikya Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Ganosamhati Andolan chief coordinator Zonayed Saki, Bhashani Onusari Parishad convener Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu, Rastra Sanskar Andolan chief coordinator Hasnat Quaiyum and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-JSD general secretary Shahid Uddin Mahmod Shapon.
