Medical officer Nilufa Yasmin on Wednesday accused the Awami League government of derailing her career as a gynecologist by preventing her from completing the FCPS Part-2 training at Dhaka Medical College Hospital in 2009.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Law Reporters Forum office at the Supreme Court, Yasmin claimed that her mandatory three-year outdoor training鈥攅ssential for the FCPS degree鈥攚as disrupted when she was transferred from DMCH to Dhaka Division, a move that she asserts hindered her professional development in gynecology.

Yasmin, a 22nd batch BCS officer, stated that she applied twice鈥攊n 2011 and 2012鈥攖o the Directorate General of Health Services for a training posting at a recognised medical college or hospital but was denied on both occasions.

In response, she filed a petition with the High Court in 2012 challenging the delay in her posting.

On October 22, 2024, the High Court directed the directorate to submit a proposal for assigning her a training post at DMCH so she could complete the remaining part of her FCPS training.

Despite serving a copy of the verdict to the directorate, Yasmin contends that the directive has yet to be implemented, effectively stalling her career progress for 17 years since passing the FCPS Part-1 exam in gynecology in 2008.
