According to a statement from the labour and employment ministry, the advisory council committee for reviewing the Beximco Industrial Park鈥檚 labour and business situation will give a briefing at noon today at the Bangladesh Secretariat.

The statement said that the briefing would provide updates on the labour situation at the factory units situated in the industrial park.


At the briefing the advisory council committee members and industry representatives are expected to address key issues related to workforce management, operational challenges and ongoing business activities in these factories.

However, according to sources, due to a lack of work orders, the management may permanently lay off all the workers and other staff of 14 factory units except the Yarn Unit 1.

The sources also said that permanent closures of the 14 factory units might be declared following appropriate provisions of the labour law, clearing all the dues of the workers to be laid off, which might start in phases from March 9.

Khosru Parvez, the court-appointed receiver of Beximco, told 抖阴精品 on the day that everything would be disclosed at the briefing of the advisory council committee, adding that he had no information in this regard.

Beximco factory units have nearly 40,000 workers.

On November 24, 2024, the government formed an advisory council committee to review the labour and business situation of the Beximco Industrial Park.
