Politicians and leaders of the Urdu-speaking people on Saturday at a roundtable discussion in Dhaka called on the interim government headed by Professor Muhammad Yunus to take steps to withdraw cases filed against Urdu-speaking people living in the Mirpur area.

Urdu-speaking Peoples Youth Rehabilitation Movement organised the roundtable at the National Press Club and its president Mohammad Sadakat Khan Fakku presided over the meeting.


Assuring the Urdu-speaking peple of his party鈥檚 support, Nagarik Oikya president Mahmudur Rahman Manna called on them to continue their movement protesting at the unjustified steps of the interim government.

President of the USPRM, Sadakat Khan Fakku, who read out keynote paper at the discussion,聽 called on the interim government to withdraw the cases field against Urdu-speaking people within seven days, or else he would sacrifice his life.

Gano Forum presidium member Subrata Chowdhury alleged that interim government was filing many cases and it would not be possible to end the cases.

He called on the interim government to withdraw the cases filed against the Urdu-speaking people living in the Mirpur area in Dhaka city.

Communist Party of Bangladesh general secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince, Socialist Party of Bangladesh general secretary Bazlur Rashid Firoz and Amar Bangladesh Party general secretary Asaduzzaman Fuad also called on the interim government to ensure rights of the Urdu-speaking people and withdraw the cases filed against them.
