Two tea workers were killed and 18 injured when a pickup lost control and overturned on a road at Srimangal in Moulvibazar on Monday.

The accident occurred near the Satgaon Tea Estate Factory on the Dhaka-Sylhet regional highway in the upazila.


The deceased, Bishal Hridoy Rabi Das, 19, and Hridoy Rabi Das, 32, were residents of Amrail Tea Estate.

People of area and police said that the accident took place when the pickup, carrying workers from Amrail Tea Estate, lost control and overturned in the Bhanga area of the highway.

People of the area took the injured to Srimangal Upazila Health Complex for immediate medical attention.

The condition of six of the injured was critical, and they had been shifted to 250-Bed District Hospital, Moulvibazar for better treatment, said Srimangal Upazila Health Complex鈥檚 duty doctors.

Saifur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Satgaon highway police station, said that the critically injured workers were sent to the hospital and the overturned pickup was seized and taken to the police station.
