A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed former justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik on a two-day remand in a murder case filed with Gulshan police station.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Md Manirul Islam passed the order when inspector of Anti-Terrorism Unit and also the investigatingofficer of the case Aminul Islam produced him before the court with a seven-day remand prayer.


According to the prosecution, Md Abu Zar Sheikh, a student, sustained bullet injuries during the anti-discrimination student movement in Pragati Sarani of Gulshan area on July 19, last year.

He died from his injuries on July 27 at a private hospital in the capital.

Abu Zar鈥檚 mother filed a case with Gulshan Police Station on November 16. 2024.

Justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik was detained by the Border Guard Bangladesh at the Kanaighat border area in Sylhet just before he was attempting to depart for India on August 24, 2024.
