The National Round of the 15th Bangladesh Physics Olympiad has recently taken place at the American International University-Bangladesh in Dhaka.

Professor AFM Yusuf Haider, physicist and chairman of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and acting dean of the school of pharmacy at BRAC University served as chief guest at the event, said a press release on Wednesday.


Shahin Reza, country director, Bangladesh and Nepal, Oxford AQA; Jannatul Ferdous Sigma, regional development manager, Pearson Bangladesh; Munir Hasan, chief coordinator, digital transformation and youth programme, Prothom Alo and Fayez Ahmed Jahangir Masud, general secretary, Bangladesh Physics Olympiad, among others, were present as special guests at the event.

Professor Md Abdur Rahman, pro-vice-chancellor, AIUB, served as chairperson of the opening ceremony on behalf of Nadia Anwar, AIUB founder member and board of trustees’ chairman.  

A question and answer session took place at the AIUB amphitheater, providing students an opportunity to interact with Professor M Arshad Momen, department of physical sciences, Independent University, Bangladesh, and coach of the national team for the Bangladesh Physics Olympiad, along with Rajshahi University VC Professor Saleh Hasan Naqib.

Professor M Aminul Islam, physicist and special assistant to chief advissr, graced the occasion as chief guest at the prize distribution and closing ceremony, delivering an inspiring speech to the participants.

Anisul Hoque, editor of Kishor Alo and associate editor of Prothom Alo; Professor Mahbubul Alam Majumder, physicist and mathematician, school of data and sciences, BRAC University, among others, addressed the event.

Professor Saiful Islam, AIUB VC, served as chairperson of the prize distribution and closing ceremony.

The top three winners from each category received trophies and books. Among the winners, five outstanding individuals will have the honour of representing Bangladesh in the 55th International Physics Olympiad in France.

The 15th Bangladesh Physics Olympiad 2025 was jointly organised by the Bangladesh Physics Olympiad Committee and American International University-Bangladesh.
