Police recovered the half-decomposed body of a local Juba League leader from a cattle shed at Tarakandi village of Kazipur upazila in Sirajganj on Friday.
The deceased is Yusuf Ali Swapon, 40, son of Iman Ali Khan from Bir Shubhagacha village in the upazila.
Swapon served as the joint general secretary of the local Shubhagacha Union unit Juba League.
Nur Alam, officer-in-charge of Kazipur police station, said that Swapon had been living alone in a separate room in the cattle shed in that remote area for several weeks.
On Friday morning, locals smelled a strong odour emanating from the shed and informed the police. On information, police arrived at the spot and recovered the body.
The body was later sent to the Sirajganj general hospital morgue for an autopsy.
OC Nur Alam said that the exact cause of death was yet to be known, but the post-mortem report would reveal the true cause.
A case has been filed with the concerned police station regarding the incident.
