
Police on Friday arrested a Hindu man at Shekhertek under the Adabar police station in the capital on charges of hurting religious sentiments.
The arrested is Bidhan Chandra Das, 29, a resident of Barguna.
Bidhan, an employee at a local hairdressing salon, has been living at a rented house in the Shekertek 10 area.
Confirming the matter, Adabar police officer-in-charge SM Jakaria said that local people surrounded him at about 12:00pm on Friday for allegedly insulting Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).
Later, a case was filed against Bidhan accusing him of hurting religious sentiments, added the police officer.
A man named Nazmul Hasan Khandaker alleged that Bidhan made derogatory comments about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) at a hairdressing salon in the Shekhertek area on Thursday.
On Friday morning, Nazmul went to the spot with a group of local people and surrounded Bidhan.
