
At least five people, including a freedom fighter, were killed in separate road accidents in Feni, Kurigram and Bogura between Saturday night and Sunday.
A freedom fighter was killed on Saturday night as a motorcycle run over him in front of his home at Sonagazi upazila in Feni, reported 抖阴精品 correspondent in Feni.
The deceased is Monir Ahmad, 85, said Sonagazi model police station officer-in-charge Baizid Akan.
A family member of the deceased said that Monir was taken to Feni General Hospital where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Two examinees of the Higher Secondary Certificate were killed in a road crash at Nirashir Patar under Takabpur union of Kurigram鈥檚 Ulipur upazila on Sunday afternoon, reported United News of Bangladesh.
The deceased are Sourav Ali, 19, and Plabon Mia, 18, students of Kurigram Collectorate School and College.
According to the police, Sourav and Plabon were returning from Thanahat Bazar in neighbouring Chilmari upazila riding a motorcycle when a tractor ran them over from behind in the Battala area of Nirashir Patar.
Sourav died on the spot, while Plabon was critically injured and taken to Ulipur Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Zillur Rahman, the officer-in-charge of the Ulipur police station, said that the bodies were recovered.
A couple was killed in a road accident on the Dhaka-Bogura Highway in the Charmatha area in Bogura on Sunday, reported Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.
The deceased are Md Sajal, 50, and his wife Hosne Ara, 45, residents of the Katnarpara area in the district.
The accident took place at around 2:00pm, when a microbus hit the couple鈥檚 motorcycle, leaving them injured on the road. At that moment, a speeding bus ran over them, said Monowaruzzaman, the OC of Bogura Kunderhat highway police.
Sajal died on the spot while Hosne Ara was taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
