
Three people were killed and three others were injured as a CNG-run auto-rickshaw crashed into a truck at village Chanpur Bridge in Phulpur upazila of Mymensingh on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Mohammad Hasad ,16, son of Habij Uddin from village Hatpagla in Phulpur, Ashik Mia, 20, son of Riaz Uddin from village Chatargram in Nakla upazila of Sherpur and Abul Kashem, 50, son of late Nabbe Ali of village Polashti in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi.
Mohammad Abdul Hadi, officer-in-charge of Phulpur Police Station, said that the auto-rickshaw, which was carrying passengers, was heading towards Phulpur bus stand from Baitkandi when it collided with speeding truck coming from the opposite direction, leaving three passengers dead on the spot, the OC said.
Locals rushed the injured passengers to Phulpur Upazila Health Complex and Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Efforts are underway to identify the truck and its driver, added the OC.
