Members of the Coast Guard detained a poacher along with 28kg of venison from the Nalian Balur Math area, adjacent to Sundarban, on Thursday.
The arrested individual is Md Yasin Gazi, 27, from Dacope upazila in Khulna.
Acting on a tip-off, the BCG Outpost Nalian under the Coast Guard West Zone conducted an operation in the area and apprehended the poacher, said coast guard media officer Lieutenant Commander Md Siam-ul-Haq.
The poacher was later handed over to the Sundarbans division鈥檚 Hadda forest office for legal action.
On Wednesday night, members of the Coast Guard detained five deer poachers along with 25kg of venison from a boat in the Shibsa River of Sundarban in Khulna. They also seized the boat and 80 deer poaching traps from their possession.
Sundarban East Division divisional forest officer Kazi Muhammad Nurul Karim said that patrols had been increased to prevent deer hunting in Sundarban.
鈥楾he forest department is conducting raids at various times, and searches are being carried out whenever suspicious boats are spotted in the area,鈥� he added.
