
At least two construction workers were killed, and three others injured after a wall collapsed on them during the excavation work of a drainage system in Shahednagar Byapari Para of Sirajganj on Saturday.
The deceased are Raja Sheikh, 36, and Komol Chandra Das, 35, of Behuli union at Sirajganj Sadar.
Sirajganj fire service officer Abdur Rahman said that the workers were digging underground for drain construction and as they dug about five feet, a 6-7 foot high wall from a nearby house collapsed, trapping the five workers underneath.
The workers were taken to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital, where on-duty doctors pronounced the two of them dead, while one critically injured worker was sent to Bogura for advanced treatment.
Sirajganj Sadar police officer-in-charge Humayun Kabir said that the body of Raja was kept at the hospital morgue while the body of Komol was handed over to his family.
No complaint was lodged till filing of this report at 5:00pm, said the OC.
