
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court on Tuesday ordered the Anti-Corruption Commission to seize 163 bank accounts of Nayeemul Islam Khan, former press secretary to ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, and four of his family members in connection with graft allegations.
Judge Md Zakir Hossain of the court passed the order after ACC鈥檚 deputy director Afroza Haque Khan submitted a petition, said ACC public relations officer Aktarul Islam.
Four others are Nayeemul鈥檚 wife, Nasima Khan Monti, and their three daughters Labiba Nayeem Khan, Zulika Nayeem Khan, and Adiva Nayeem Khan.
The transactions were Tk聽765 crore in the 163 bank accounts but now the balance in the accounts is only Tk聽8.76 crore.
ACC is conducting an inquiry against Nayeemul Islam Khan, also a journalist, and his family members on charges of amassing illegal wealth beyond known sources of income.
On February 25, the same court issued a travel ban on Nayeemul Islam Khan and his family in connection with the allegations.
