An activist of Juba League, youth wing of the ousted Awami League, was allegedly shot dead near Jashore Model Mosque in the town at around 11:45pm on Monday.
The victim is Mir Sakir Sabab Sadiq, 35, son of Mir Shaukat Ali of Masjidpara adjacent to Model Mosque in Jashore town.
Confirming the incident, Kazi Babul Hossain, acting officer-in-charge of the Kotwali police, said that the police were trying to arrest the killers.
Locals said that there had been a long-standing feud between the youth, a Juba League activist, and his fellow activists over establishing supremacy in the Jashore Railway Bazar area.
The incident might have taken place over the matter, they added.
Mir Shaukat Ali, father of the victim, said that three attackers shot Sadiq dead on the spot as soon as he reached his residence on a motorbike at around 11:45pm on Monday.
