Three people were killed and two others were injured in a collision between an ambulance and an engine-run van on Jashore-Benapole highway in Jashore on early Wednesday.
The deceased were Nazma Khatun, 50, Bablu Hossain, 54, and Ratna Khatun, 12, hailing from Godkhali area under Jhikargacha upazila of the district.
The injured are Hasan Iqbal, 30, and Halima Khatun, 28. All the victims were passengers of the van.
Navaran Highway police station鈥檚 officer-in-charge Rokanuzzaman said that the accident occurred at about 6:15am when the Benapole-bound ambulance crashed into the van coming from the opposite direction in front of a refueling station in Nabinagar area, leaving the trio dead on the spot and two others wounded.
The bodies were sent to Jashore General Hospital morgue for post-mortem examinations, the OC said.
Legal action would be taken in this connection, he added.
