At least seven people were killed and 13 others injured in road accidents in Jashore, Jaipurhat and Thakurgaon between Tuesday night and Wednesday.聽

The United News of Bangladesh reported that three people were killed and two others injured in a collision between an ambulance and an engine-run van on Jashore-Benapole highway in Jashore early Wednesday.


The deceased were Nazma Khatun, 50, Bablu Hossain, 54, and Ratna Khatun, 12, hailing from Godkhali area under Jhikargachha of the district.

The injured were Hasan Iqbal, 30, and Halima Khatun, 28. All the victims were passengers of the van.

Navaran highway police station officer-in-charge Rokanuzzaman said that the accident occurred at around 6:15am and left the trio dead on the spot and two others wounded.

Legal action will be taken in this connection, the OC said.

Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported that two people were killed and two others injured when a car collided head-on with a battery-run van on the Jaipurhat-Bogura highway in Bansher Bridge area under Kalai of Jaipurhat district on Wednesday afternoon.聽

The deceased were Mofazzal Hossain Mondal, 40, and Idris Ali, 60, both residents of Bhugoil village of the upazila.

Kalai police station OC Zahid Hossain said that the injured were taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura.

Meanwhile, the BSS reported that two persons were killed and nine others, including a child, injured as a human hauler rammed into a stationary truck at Lakhipur-Debadangi on the Thakurgaon-Baliadangi highway of in Thakurgaon Sadar on Tuesday.

The deceased, Arfan, 23, was a resident of Madhupur village in Baliadangi, and Joyonto Roy, 29, from chairman Para in the same upazila.

The accident occurred around 8:00pm, said Thakurgaon Sadar police station OC Shahidur Rahman.
