The Bangladesh Coast Guard on Friday arrested five suspected robbers and recovered a locally manufactured firearm, 21 handmade bombs and 569 pieces of yaba tablets along with cash from Bheduria area in Bhola.
The arrestees are Md Jahangir, 65, Md Manju, 35, Md Zia, 30, Abdul Abbas, 30, and Md Selim, 26.
Operation officer of the Bangladesh Coast Guard at Bhola south zone Lt Rifat Ahmed told reporters that a coast guard team conducted a special drive at Bheduria union of sadar upazila at about 2:00am on Friday and arrested five robbers from there.
He said that the drive was conducted based on secret information. The coast guard team also recovered firearm, drugs, handmade bombs and Tk聽44,510 from their possession.
Rifat also said that several cases were also pending in different police stations against the arrestees.
He said that the Bangladesh Coast Guard has been working to ensure security of coastal areas as well as common people.
