Leaders of Garment O Sweaters Sramik Trade Union Kendra on Friday demanded release of its leader Jalal Hawlader immediately.
President of the organisation Iddris Ali and general secretary Kazi Ruhul Amin in a press statement said that police on Friday noon arrested Iddris, general secretary of Gazipur district committee of the organization at his home in Faridpur.
They also alleged that Jalal was leading movements of Style Craft garment in Gazipur and police had arrested him in a case field by the owners of the factory.
The workers of the factory were also holding programmes during Ramadan demanding their wages and dues, the statement said.
The garment labour leaders demanded immediate release of Jalal and withdrawal of the case filed against the garment workers鈥� leaders.
The organisation will wage tougher movements if Jalal Hawlader is not released, the leaders warned.
