The Anti-Corruption Commission on Sunday filed two cases against former foreign minister Hasan Mahmud and his wife Nuran Fatema on charges of amassing wealth beyond known sources of income.

According to the case statements, the cases were filed against the couple over allegations of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk聽6.63 crore and suspicious transactions of Tk聽722 crore in their 65 bank accounts.


ACC chairman Mohammad Abdul Momen through a press briefing at the commission headquarters in Dhaka said that the commission filed the two cases with its integrated district office in Dhaka-1.

Of the cases, ACC deputy director Komlesh Mandal filed a case against Hasan Mahmud on charges of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk聽1.11 crore and suspicious transactions of Tk聽39.76 crore in his nine bank accounts.

ACC assistant director Al Amin filed another case against Nuran Fatema on charges of amassing wealth worth Tk聽5.52 crore beyond known sources of income and suspicious transactions of Tk聽683 crore in 56 bank accounts.

Hasan Mahmud is also accused along with his wife in the case for assisting her for amassing the illegal wealth.
