
A teenage girl allegedly committed suicide after being resisted from using mobile phone by her mother in Sylhet on Sunday.
The deceased, Labiba Tanha, 13, was daughter of the late Mujibur Rahman of Sheikhghat area in Sylhet city, the police said.
The family members of Labiba said that she got angry and left the house in the midnight after her mother scolded for using mobile phone.
They searched her at all possible places but could not find her. At around 4:00am, her body was found hanging from an electrical pole posted behind another home adjacent to their house, they added.
Kotwali police station officer-in-charge Md Ziaul Haque said that they recovered the body hanging from an electrical pole and it was handed over to her family after a post-mortem examination at Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
‘Initially, it is believed that the girl committed suicide following the anger with her mother,’ said the OC, adding that they were investigating the incident.
