Fourteen Bangladeshi nationals were returned to the country on Wednesday afternoon after serving different terms of imprisonment in Indian jail for allegedly entering that country illegally.

The returnees are Md Umar Farukh, 26, of Baksiganj police station in Jamalpur, Md Humayun Kabir, 26, of Rajibpur police station in Kurigram, Md Russell Mia, 20, of Jhinaigati police station in Sherpur, Md Sujan Molla, 36, of Nagarkanda police station in Faridpur, Md Yusuf Mia, 23, of Shibpur police station in Narsingdi, Md Saheb Ali, 23, Md Mizanur Rahman, 26, Md Sohel Rana, 25, Md Abu Bakkar, 23, Md Abdul Karim 45, Md Shamim, 37, Md Habibullah, 34, and Md Nazir Ahmed, 40, of Godaganj police station in Rajshahi, and Md Biplob Mia, 22, of Muktagachha police station in Mymensingh, police said.


Sub-inspector Shamim Mia, in-charge of the Tamabil Immigration police in Sylhet, said that the Border Security Force of India arrested the 14 individuals on charge of entering the country illegally and the Indian authorities agreed to return them after they served different terms of imprisonment in the Tura Jail in West Garo Hills district in Meghalaya state of India.

‘The Indian authorities sent them back through Tamabil Land Port Immigration at Gowainghat upazila in Sylhet at around 4:00pm in the presence of representatives of the BSF and Border Guard Bangladesh,’ Shamim said, adding that the returnees have been handed over to their relatives.
