Two workers were killed when a cable of a lift snapped at GPH Ispat, an iron rod manufacturing factory, in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram on Sunday, police said.
The deceased are Md Rifat, 25, son of Shamsul Haque of Mirsarai upazila and Md Mostafa, 24, son of Rokonuzzaman of Bashbaria area.
The incident occurred in the afternoon when the cable of a lift snapped inside the factory, located in the聽 Sultana Mandir area under Kumira Union of the upazila, leaving two workers of the factory injured, said Mojibur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sitakunda police station.
Later, they were taken to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital where the doctors declared Mostafa dead upon arrival.
Rifat was admitted to the hospital鈥檚 neurosurgery ward, but he died to his injuries at about 2:00pm while undergoing treatment.
