Under a joint initiative of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation and Bangla Academy, 7-day Baisakhi Fair began on Bangla Academy premises in Dhaka.

Industries adviser Adilur Rahman Khan and cultural affairs adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki on Monday inaugurated the fair, which would continue till April 20, said a press release.


Bangla Academy president Professor Abul Kasem Fazlul Haque, BSCIC chairman Md Saiful Islam, Bangla Academy director general Professor Mohammad Azam, cultural ministry secretary Md Mofidur Rahman, industries ministry secretary Md Obaidur Rahman, among others, were present as guests.

Ninety-eight stalls were set up in the fair. Among them, five stalls are Jamdani sarees, two of Nakshi Kantha, eight of jute products, seven of jewellery products, four of leather products, two of bamboo products, one of pottery products, 31 of textile products and 20 of food products.
